Illustration

While separate from my seminar work, not unlike the cakes, I took a few illustration courses over the years. Most recently, a natural science illustration course has graced my schedule. My final was to combine animals or animals and plants. I chose two of the best animals ever. The Kakapo, and the Raccoon.
This is the result.

Please leave your thoughts.
Enjoy,

Newest cake!

Well, I was asked to create a new cake. One for a holiday party. Wellllll, the party it was supposed to go to was cancelled. So it never got to go to it's destination. So. Much. Cake. So it got sent to another party.

Here are some pictures of it.
Enjoy!

Senior Review Time #2

Well, it's that time of year. Finals, headaches, and sorrow all combine into one thing: the end of the semester reviews. Today's adventure brings us back into the wonderful world of senior panel reviews. Now it's not all bad, you get a panel of faculty who come and critique your work so far, they're usually very helpful and rather to the point.
Today's, I believe, went fairly well.
I think.
I also think they encouraged me to play more video games. Huh.

Anyway!

Here are some current images from my studio. Yes, that IS the best clock ever.

Enjoy!

Let there be cake!

WELCOME VIEWERS!
I know this blog is mostly seminar related, and there shall be posts, however, I had to show one of my better Natural Science Illustration projects. Without further adieu . . . let there be cake.

3 layers of yellow cake, with strawberry jam in between each one, hand colored and flavored fondant to look like a warm peachy tan color. Hand painted fondant and icing starfish. White chocolate sand dollars on all sides (see first image). And last but not least, white chocolate coated rice krispie coral.

Enjoy.

In the works

One of the paintings I'm currently working on is of one of the masks on my wall that I'm creating. I'm hoping to get it accepted in the portrait show. Of course the picture depicts it backwards, and with limited color, and soon I'll most likely add a watermark and such, but for now, enjoy, critique, and let me know what you think.

The Working Space

This is my studio space for my senior year, what I do, and what I've done resides here. Sure I have objects up already, but I'll elaborate more on that later. For now, I'll just show what my working conditions are. This 6 feet by about 7 and a half feet cube is my home, the home for my artwork, my ideas, and my internet oddly enough.

Look forward to future posts regarding process and artwork.

Welcome aboard!

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm the blogger known kindly as HM Gartner. I'm an art student, and as I progress through the art world I'll be posting periodically about my progress. I currently am going through what's known at my school as "senior seminar" where I have a studio, and a body of work to create. The more I make, the more I post!

Comments, feedback, and criticism is all welcome, and as long as it's constructive and not mean, it's completely welcome.
